The Blackpool Tower is operated by global brand Merlin Entertainments, who have 123 attractions, 19 hotels and seven holiday villages in 24 countries. Our client is an iconic landmark and one of the most popular holiday destinations in Britain for generations. The Tower is home to six attractions, the Circus, which has been performed by the Endresz Family for 26 years, the world-famous Ballroom, where the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing is filmed, The Tower Eye, Jungle Jim’s, The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, and The Blackpool Tower Dungeon Escape Rooms.
The six attractions are key to The Blackpool Tower experience, which encompasses traditional seaside fun, a scary but light-hearted immersive experience, the incredible circus and an area at the top of the Tower giving panoramic views of the resort.
To support the Tower’s marketing and senior management team, we identified key attributes of each attraction and generated social, creative and PR content for each of the Tower’s social media channels, regional and national print, online and broadcast media. We have also identified business development opportunities to transform the function of some of the attractions to reinvigorate The Blackpool Tower’s brand.
Our work has placed The Blackpool Tower in the spotlight through identifying natural news stories that happen there because of the long-serving and close-knit community of staff. Our news stories have appeared on BBC radio all over the country, ITV Granada, The Guardian, Daily Star and regional North West media.
We have also used a multi-channel approach to PR and been able to identify opportunities to promote the Tower on their social media channels, particularly using Facebook Live and video, while responding to our client’s needs to generate content and campaigns for social media use.
