14.06.2017 | Influential Secures Blanket Coverage To Celebrate The Blackpool Tower Milestone
Influential’s B2C team hit the high notes this week with standout national coverage of the The Blackpool Tower’s organist Phil Kelsall’s 40 year anniversary.
The Tower’s resident organist, Phil Kelsall, celebrated 40 years of playing the world famous Wurlitzer organ in the Ballroom this week and Influential marked the occasion with a major media event.
The media interest in Phil’s remarkable dedication to the Tower, and the dancers who have graced the ornate Ballroom over the past four decades, was huge.
Influential welcomed Radio 4’s flagship Today programme, BBC Breakfast, BBC North West Tonight, BBC Radio Lancashire, ITV Granada and the Blackpool Gazette to cover the story.
Talented musician Phil was 21-years-old when he was appointed as resident organist in 1977 and he plays the Wurlitzer, which has been in place since 1935, five days a week for four hours a day.
Joining Today at the Ballroom was Jane Woodhead, Consumer PR Director at Influential, who was on hand to assist journalists and our client throughout the day.
Jane said: “The team at the Tower told us about Phil’s 40 years playing the Wurlitzer in the Ballroom and we knew it was such a strong human interest story the national media would be eager to cover.
“We work regularly with the BBC, Granada and the Blackpool Gazette across our client base and we are very proud to have built good relationships with the news editors, who are always happy to hear what stories we can bring to them.
“Many of Influential’s B2C and B2B team are former journalists so we know what a good story is and we work with our clients to identify natural news from within their organisations that will appeal to the national print, broadcast and trade media.”
