Reporting on the pandemic – the journalists’ story

COVID-19 has touched every part of our economy, challenging business models and redefining markets. On behalf of Professional Liverpool, our director Chris Hulme hosted this webinar with three leading business journalists about their own experience of reporting on the impact of the pandemic in our region. Who are the winners, the losers, and what stories does Liverpool City Region now need tell to support its own recovery?

Andy Bounds, Northern Editor, The FT
Andy is the North of England correspondent and Enterprise Editor at the Financial Times. He has spent over 22 years at the FT in London, Latin America, Brussels and now covers the North of England. A critical friend of the North and Northern Powerhouse, Andy has been immersed in covering the impact of the pandemic but is also interested in devolution, start-ups and the left behind.

Alex Turner, joint managing director at The Business Desk.com
Alex has oversight of all the coverage in The Business Desk across its three regions – the North West, Yorkshire and Midlands. He started his career running the media department of St Helens Rugby League Club before moving into journalism, where he specialised in business, enjoying spells at the Liverpool Daily Post and Liverpool Echo newspapers.

Jennie Lewis, director, Liverpool Business News
Jennie is the founding director of LBN, an independent business news site, and owner director at YBpr. LBN is now in its third year of operating and is currently the only dedicated business news platform in the Liverpool City Region. The site now attracts an average of 20-30K visits per month and the team produce twice weekly digital news bulletins.
