Investment groups select Influential

Influential has won the brief to provide public relations support for Palatine Private Equity, the firm long associated with establishing Manchester as a major European hub for private equity investment.

Palatine, founded in 2005, has offices in Manchester, Birmingham and London. The firm invests in UK lower-mid market businesses seeking to accelerate their growth strategy. An independent business, owned and controlled by its partners, it is currently investing from two dedicated funds – Impact, with investments between £5 million and £10 million; and Buy Out, where the range is £10 million – £30 million.

Influential, which operates from bases in Manchester and Liverpool, also secured the brief to support EMC Capital, another North West-based investor, which acquires and develops owner-managed manufacturing and engineering businesses over the long-term.

EMC’s portfolio includes United Anodisers, one of Europe’s leading providers of coloured architectural aluminium, and Karas, a metal finishing company specialising in premium coatings such as gold and silver.

Influential also is supporting EMC Capital as it promotes its empowered ownership-style and focus on preserving the legacy built up within any business the group acquires, whilst encouraging owners to deal direct as opposed to work through brokers.

Chris Hulme, Director of Influential, said: “Palatine is a true pioneer in its sector and is driven by a progressive agenda around the environment, sustainability and governance. The trail it continues to blaze is about putting purpose and responsibility as central to its investment strategy. This has included launching one of the first dedicated Impact funds in the UK mid-market, which is also used as a means to drive value creation. Access to funding and investment is the golden thread that will drive the Northern economy forward as we recover from the pandemic, and we are absolutely delighted to be supporting two organisations, that in different ways, are key to the future of the UK regions.”

Influential is also retained by Foresight Group, a leading international investment company, to support its North West Regional Investment Fund, which backs fast-growing SMEs such as translations business DA Languages, e-commerce firm Hedges Direct and engineering contractor UDP.
