Influential was on hand to advise on PR strategy, book top sporting celebrities for meet-and-greets and generate media coverage in key target areas.
Following the success of the Vitality Netball World Cup Fan Zone at Chavasse Park, Liverpool ONE transformed the green space into a sporting hub, complete with a selection of activities including a running track, pop-up netball court and long jump area.
Influential’s PR team supported Liverpool ONE in booking sporting athletes such as including bronze-medal Olympians Anyika Onuora and Kelly Massey, as well as professional rugby player Rob O’Donnell. Each sporting star offered an appearance where children and adults alike could ask questions, get sporting tips, and photographs with their heroes.
The sporting aspect of the campaign achieved 13 pieces of coverage alone, including traditional media, video and radio in target areas. With an estimated coverage view of over 6,000 and celebrity social shares to a combined audience of 20,218, we supported Liverpool ONE in making its Summer of Champions campaign a real success.
Jane Woodhead, PR Director, said of the campaign: “The Summer of Champions was a great campaign to piggyback celebrity endorsement on. We used our strong networks to source, negotiate and book top sporting athletes with a local interest that would drive visitor intrigue. The team did a great job in achieving local and regional press, including coverage in key locations such as Wirral and Southport. The events were also captured by Liverpool TV, The Guide and BBC Radio Merseyside, demonstrating a real mix of traditional and digital media.”
