One Magnificent City

ABOUT

Three ocean Queens, a Transatlantic 175 cultural exchange weekend, and a Guinness World Record breaking finale were just some of the ingredients making up the 2015 summer of celebrations in Liverpool to mark the 175th anniversary of the very first transatlantic crossing by a cruise liner. The festival of events was the city’s key visitor destination campaign of 2015.

 

APPROACH

We worked alongside Culture Liverpool, Cunard and Transatlantic 175 creative director Wayne Hemingway MB, to promote a seven week programme of events. We achieved stand-out national and regional coverage, promoting the city as a leading tourist destination as well as highlighting the culture and arts scene on offer in Liverpool.

 

OUTPUT

Over seven weeks more than 530 stories appeared across regional and national media. The Three Queens was covered by every major TV channel, and print coverage included the front page of The Times.

Highlights for Transatlantic 175 included Wayne Hemingway on The Wright Stuff and The Very Big Catwalk on The One Show, as well as features in OK! and Reveal magazine. Regional outreach by the team helped to secure a Guinness World Record breaking 3,651 models down the catwalk, led by Very.co.uk ambassadors Rochelle Humes and Lauren Pope.

Wider features on Liverpool as a growing tourist destination included coverage in Daily Express, The Sunday Times and a double page spread in The Observer. In total, coverage with a value of over £2.5m was generated for One Magnificent City.
